Earthquake Walk

A random walker whose step sizes come from the past week of real earthquakes. Big magnitudes are rare and enormous, the same heavy tail a Lévy flight has, so the walk clusters and then leaps.

Chapter 0 (Randomness). Each earthquake magnitude sets a step length of 3·10^(M-2.5) (clamped for the canvas), so rare large quakes make long jumps. The heavy-tailed lengths are a Levy flight; Gutenberg-Richter is the frequency law behind the magnitude sample.
